arise!

It has been an emotional week filled with gratitude for dad. One year ago Wednesday, November 18th, 2008, after a long struggle, he went home. I remember Dad's great and last heroic struggle. To know that he is free from pain and suffering and the limitations of mortality fills me with awe. The great plan of happiness is real. We will each arise from death to be reunited through the miracle of the resurrection wrought by Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer.

Some of my fondest memories from one year ago: Jon reading Charlie Russell stories that seemed to calm Dad and reciting Robert Frost's "Apple Picking"... Brynlee snuggled up, kissing his cheek, holding his hand...Mom and Judy administering tender care to their patient...Uncle Floyd and David laying their hands on Dad's head with mighty priesthood power and feeling the tangible dew from heaven...praying constantly to accept the Lord's will...receiving the thought that Dad was trying to lift his arms to be more comfortable...seeing David or Jon tenderly wrap their arms around Dad and lift him to a more comfortable position....so many tender times of unity, love, service, and support.

Whatever struggles this life brings, I know that I can "arise" with help from my heroes. You will be there for me like that sacred Sunday morning, standing together, holding onto each other. No words exchanged or songs sung - just peaceful reverence - quiet strength, unity and love unfeigned.
