Recovering from surgery

I had eye surgery on Friday, 15 February (prk with zyoptic laser). It's been a painful and tough journey. When my eyes are tired everything is blurry andout of focus. My new theme song is "I wear my sunglasses at night!" In fact, I wear my sunglasses 24-7. I never realized before how much light exudes from the tv, computer and ipod - OUCH! I went to church on Sunday and was even able to play the organ and accompany a musical number - I wore my "cool" Ray Charles type shades the rest of the time. My kids gave me the gears for wearing them to give the closing prayer...

Work was difficult with tired "blurry" sight - out of focus - I didn't realize that I spend my whole day at school observing kids, checking their work and reading off overheads (ouch), white boards and teeny tiny print from textbooks. I've gonee through three large bottles of Refresh eye drops hoping to hurry the healing. I felt great relief getting the contact lens bandaids out after a three-hour wait...right chauffeur Joel!! Good thing they have water and chocolate chip cookes in the waiting area.

Tuesday, February 26 I drove Jeff to the children's hospital to have his adenoids out for the second time. He did great!!! He is home for a few days but hasn't needed very much pain meds. I think he feels like he went to heaven - icecream and applejuice diet.... doing a bit of homework and a ton of xbox,tv and computer games.

I decided to stay home today and rest my sore eyeballs - I can't seem to focus today. If their are typo's - please forgive me.

Monday we received an update re the "unrest" in Cameroon. The missionaries are "house-bound" until things settledown more. Interestingly I'm filled with an amazing sense of peace and protection - calm - a gift of the spirit I'm sure.

The top icecream flavors of the week are Safeway Select Canadian Moose, Bryers Reese's Peanut Buttercup, Foothills Creamery Peppermint Candy. Coop has Bryers rainbow sherbet on for $3.99 instead of $8.99 for 2L - of course Jeff only wanted one and hasn't cracked it open yet.

Dallin's muscles were featured on a poster promoting a wrestling tournament at the university - rear view only - I'll try to scan in the picture.

Our "redneck lawn ornament - aka the bruised/broken red dodge colt" was finally picked up by the kidney foundation on Tuesday - hooray!! Kevin and the boys with Brent Johnson's help did some repairs on the truck - no more searching the sky for ufo's with the right headlight.

I've got to go rest my eyes again - computer screens sure look strange through Ray Charles shades. Joel and I are counting down the days 21 sleeps until we fly to Frankfurt via Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, London, Berlin, Frankfurt....
Please share your "red eye" flight survival strategies! Thanks! Love ya, Sherry
